"Nice night for a 'coon hunt!"

Aubrey did not have time to send an email this week, but asked that I type something up from our phone call conversation. She had a interesting week to say the least! She has really been getting into the groove of things, and little things that used to cause her stress, she has adjusted to and is enjoying. She can't wait for her niece and younger cousins to come see the play, "Just Plain Anna Amanda" because of what it teaches about believing you're important--and she really connects with the children in her role in this play. This past week Aubrey and the other 19 sister missionaries staying in an old house were temporarily moved to a luxurious place called the Villa for 5 days. Aubrey got to sleep in a king size bed all by herself during this "vacation". The cause of it came about when several girls complained of loud and awful noises coming from the attic that were keeping girls awake at night. They could hear animal fights and scurrying, and lots of ra...

A little sick, plenty busy, keeping the kids laughing, and having a marvelous time!

hello everyone! I don't have as much time today but I hope all is well for everyone! I was sick this week but blessed to still be able to perform in everything I needed to. I mostly just had a cold so I didn't feel too bad. Then we were blessed with extra time to go sleep and get better. Over half of us were sick this week! But I'm doing better! Also, Dad, there should be a Happy father's Day video on facebook that Mom can find! I'm in the middle in the row behind the elders. I started coughing halfway through so maybe that will help you find me, haha. Oh, i just got kicked off the computer even though I think there's a couple minutes left, but have a great week! I learned lots! And I met a fam that was super musical and so nice and they have been going to the temple once a week every week for the past 6 years at 5:30 am. They are so awesome!! Anyway. I need to be better. Love you all! Bye!! Sister Higginson Post from YPM Facebook, comment: ...

Nauvoo Struggles and Strength

So this weekend we all got to wash our pioneer dresses for the first time this mission! So exciting! We can only wash them every 2 weeks and we definitely sweat in them. Like a lot. Like I've never sweat this much in my life. Like ever. And we wear each dress almost everyday. But! I think it helps us see what it was like for the saints! Laundry was a lot of work for them and I think it was about every 2 weeks for them too. And they probably didn't have alcohol spray haha. (We spray them down every day to kill the germs and they actually don't smell that bad.) Also there have been raccoons in our bedroom wall and ceiling this whole time. (Pretty sure they're raccoons anyway. I don't think mice make such loud thumping and rolling around noises all the time.) But I hear they're finally going to exterminate them somehow soon so my room of sisters might get to stay somewhere else for a couple days! Kind of exciting. Seriously, those raccoons are crazy. ...

In performance mode!

Ok, so I'm really liking this whole Nauvoo thing. Oh, this week has been amazing!! This was our first full week of being in performance mode, and it has been so good!!  I love doing Anna Amanda--it is probably my favorite thing ever. The little kids that come are so adorable, and it is so fun talking with them after. A lot of them are pretty shy, but yesterday a sweet family came with a little boy named David. He was 8 years old and so smart. He came to tell me to make sure to be myself because that's how Heavenly Father made me and if we were all the same then it would be weird and like looking in a mirror every day! He truly in took the message of the show, and it was so sweet that he felt that he needed to tell me that just in case I wasn't just acting. It really is such a tender show because most everyone struggles with self-worth at some point in their lives, and it is about finding yourself and knowing that you are important. After a different show I got...
