Well, I guess this is it!!

Well, I guess this is it!! I only have one more Sunday here in Nauvoo and we will be really busy next week so this is my last email home!! Usually this is the really profound email that sums everything up but a week and a half is kind of a long time in some ways so I feel like this is just another email. We had our last night of Pageant last night and then we stayed after to help clean up chairs. I haven't been able to watch all of pageant since we normally go home as soon as we finish the last dance that we are in. I wish that I had family to watch the pageants because they were pretty amazing. After our last dance there is a couple scenes and then a sad scene where King Follet dies. I really wanted to see this scene because I recently found out that I am a direct descendant from him. It was a very powerful part of the show when they depicted Joseph Smith speaking at his funeral. This is where the King Follet Discourse comes from and the prophet talks about the li...

It's crazy hot--I love to feel clean--I'm happy it's hard...

Ok--so this week has been a little crazy and sorry I didn't have time to email at all last week. So the heat index got up to 117 degrees one of the days this week. The other days from Wednesday to Saturday were about 110. Kinda super awful. We delayed our sunset show 3 or 4 nights in a row so it could be a little cooler. (We aren't allowed to perform until its under 104.) The heat really drains you, I can tell you that. And its hard to stay hydrated when you are constantly sweating buckets. But hey, I get to wash one of my dresses this weekend. Sadly its not the super sweaty dancing one, but what do you do, haha. I don't know if I've just gotten used to the smell or what but it could seriously be way worse. Basically I've gotten really good at taking power naps during shows when I'm back stage. I've gotten to the point where my body wakes me up as soon as I hear the line when I'm about to go on. It's pretty handy. A little 5-10 minutes he...

Trail of Hope Guide ok so i dont really ahve any time this week becasue we went to a show from the pageant core cast but im doing well! the 4th of july was super fun with a morning flag raising and songs by the band. they are amazing. we got to watch fireworks the next day and it was great. I dont have time but heres a quick quote we got today. "the best antidote i know for worry is work. the best medicine for despair is service. the best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired." -pres hinkley. this week has been very exhausting for me with waking...

Family Reunion in Nauvoo--my family came to visit!

Image
hellooo!! So this was one of the best weeks here! My family came to visit, and it was so wonderful! I miss them already but I'm so grateful for the time I got to spend with everyone. It’s also been a little crazy this week though. We kind of felt like all of us were dropping like flies. 3 of our best dancers in the front row were out almost this whole week—so its been a little crazy, but most of the time you can’t tell. Also we are having pageant rehersals at 7:00 a.m. some days or in the evening until who knows when, haha. Also it's finally gotten crazy hot here. the heat index was 108 degrees yesterday. It was only 102 for our dance show though so at least that, haha. Pretty sure I've beat my record of the most I've ever sweat in my entire life. You know you're sweaty when you bow and can see a bunch of sweat drop and fall off your face. aaaand I havn't washed my dress in 3 weeks.... ahh!! don't worry, I get to tonight, there just ha...

"Nice night for a 'coon hunt!"

Aubrey did not have time to send an email this week, but asked that I type something up from our phone call conversation. She had a interesting week to say the least! She has really been getting into the groove of things, and little things that used to cause her stress, she has adjusted to and is enjoying. She can't wait for her niece and younger cousins to come see the play, "Just Plain Anna Amanda" because of what it teaches about believing you're important--and she really connects with the children in her role in this play. This past week Aubrey and the other 19 sister missionaries staying in an old house were temporarily moved to a luxurious place called the Villa for 5 days. Aubrey got to sleep in a king size bed all by herself during this "vacation". The cause of it came about when several girls complained of loud and awful noises coming from the attic that were keeping girls awake at night. They could hear animal fights and scurrying, and lots of ra...

A little sick, plenty busy, keeping the kids laughing, and having a marvelous time!

hello everyone! I don't have as much time today but I hope all is well for everyone! I was sick this week but blessed to still be able to perform in everything I needed to. I mostly just had a cold so I didn't feel too bad. Then we were blessed with extra time to go sleep and get better. Over half of us were sick this week! But I'm doing better! Also, Dad, there should be a Happy father's Day video on facebook that Mom can find! I'm in the middle in the row behind the elders. I started coughing halfway through so maybe that will help you find me, haha. Oh, i just got kicked off the computer even though I think there's a couple minutes left, but have a great week! I learned lots! And I met a fam that was super musical and so nice and they have been going to the temple once a week every week for the past 6 years at 5:30 am. They are so awesome!! Anyway. I need to be better. Love you all! Bye!! Sister Higginson Post from YPM Facebook, comment: ...

Nauvoo Struggles and Strength

So this weekend we all got to wash our pioneer dresses for the first time this mission! So exciting! We can only wash them every 2 weeks and we definitely sweat in them. Like a lot. Like I've never sweat this much in my life. Like ever. And we wear each dress almost everyday. But! I think it helps us see what it was like for the saints! Laundry was a lot of work for them and I think it was about every 2 weeks for them too. And they probably didn't have alcohol spray haha. (We spray them down every day to kill the germs and they actually don't smell that bad.) Also there have been raccoons in our bedroom wall and ceiling this whole time. (Pretty sure they're raccoons anyway. I don't think mice make such loud thumping and rolling around noises all the time.) But I hear they're finally going to exterminate them somehow soon so my room of sisters might get to stay somewhere else for a couple days! Kind of exciting. Seriously, those raccoons are crazy. ...
