Tornado Warnings, Peace, and Opening day...

Image
I had my first tornado warning this week! At least the first one that I remember anyway... they probably had some in Omaha when I was a baby, haha. But it was really exciting! We had to cancel practice and go to the basement where we eat lunch. As we drove, we could hear the siren. It was so cool though! It ended up being a super sweet experience because a small family that was here before we opened came with us. Somehow they were aloud to watch our practices and so their little daughter, Elsa, got to see me as Anna Amanda! She was 9 years old and so sweet. She was very scared during the tornado warning so we sang "A Child's Prayer" to her while we waited in the safety of the basement. There wasn't a tornado, don't worry. It was a little stressful though because we really needed to practice and I felt like I needed every second of rehearsal! But it was a great time to bond together as a group and sing children's songs. Whenever I sing "A child...

Another crazy week in Nauvoo!!!

Hello everyone!! It's been another crazy week in Nauvoo!!! It's been surprisingly chilly here actually until this week. It's started getting pretty hot and it's only going to get hotter. Working out in rehearsal dresses over our sweats is definitely, well, sweaty. Thankfully it isn't too humid yet so I can adjust to it. But we will be in our real costumes on Wednesday! I'm so excited. But also nervous because we have less than a week until we open our shows for the public, ahhhh!!! We still have so much to do but somehow it'll all work out. Or at least it has to. We started rehearsing an extra hour every day so its been pretty tiring. We go from 8 am to 9:30 pm every day with an hour for lunch and for dinner. The first week we got here was the longest week of my life but now it's already started to go a lot faster. I thought it was still Wednesday when Friday came. When it did come though, we were kind of a mess. This Sunday has been really...

It's been another beautiful week in Nauvoo!

Hello everyone!! It's been another beautiful week in Nauvoo! I don't really remember what I wrote last week and all the days blend together so I apologize if I repeat anything. This week we have done a lot of dancing and learning our parts in the plays. More singing of course too. I have been so unbelievably blessed. Normally I really struggle memorizing anything, but I almost have all 59 of my lines memorized! And just a couple more songs left! (well for my play anyway. I definitely don't have the other 40 or however many other songs we have memorized yet...) We still haven't blocked all of it, but I think I'm gonna be ok! I know I could not have done this alone but I have been so blessed. I read in my scriptures the other night about how the Lord lets us struggle sometimes so that we can see His power more clearly. I know He can make my weaknesses strong. I'm sorry that I don't quote the scriptures as good as a regular missionary, but hopefull...

I'm the happiest girl alive!!!

Hello everyone! This is my first email from Nauvoo, and I am the happiest girl alive!!! Nauvoo is so wonderful I can't even stand it. It is beautiful, the people are beautiful, and everything we are doing everyday is beautiful. There is so much to say, I don't even know where to start. My companion is Sister Urry and she is awesome. I love her so much. She's super cool and she rides a motorcycle. We get along quite well;) although I'm sure my mom might not feel the same way about that, I think it's pretty dang awesome, haha. She also has an amazing voice even though she's sick. Thankfully I'm not sick any more but all our voices are a little strained from all the practicing. We practice about 8-10 hours everyday and it's kinda hard but so fulfilling. We already have connected with so many of the songs and it's amazing that we can sing so well together even on the bus ride over here. We drink lots of water and have about 10 cough drops a...
